Ecovillage Education
The ecovillage
model presents itself as an inspiring and viable solution
to eradication of poverty and degradation of the environment,
while combining a supportive social-cultural environment
with a low-impact lifestyle. Join our programmes to learn
more.
As we witness the ever-growing social-economic disparity
between the rich and the poor, North and South, and the
ongoing degradation of our planet’s resources, real
changes are coming about as we unite, pool our resources,
and tackle the problems ourselves. Many programmes where
people on the planet are making a difference today are,
in fact, locally-based.

We
know sustainable societies are built upon sustainable communities.
To be sustainable, communities are taking leadership for
their future with the utmost seriousness. We are advancing
the cause of sustainability through our educational programmes
and through links with networks of people organisations
working together with local activists, fully committed to
establishing sustainable lifestyles in their regions.
The Findhorn Ecovillage is used as a teaching resource by
many university and school groups as well as by professional
organisations. We also design and deliver Ecovillage / Sustainability
Education courses to communities, groups, universities and
municipalities worldwide. For more information contact Education
for Sustainability Administrator.
You are invited to join the ecovillage movement which has
grown from 9 "seed" villages in 1995 (First International
Conference at Findhorn) to more than 15,000 villages associated
with the Global Ecovillage Network today, including several
"Living and Learning Centers;" villages which
have created training programs to assist other communities.

Ecovillage Design Training of Trainers 2008
October 11 - November 7, 2008
This four-week programme will be a comprehensive training
of trainers, covering all elements of an ecovillage-based
education. This will entail training at three distinct levels.
First, we will explore the content of each of the four key
pillars of ecovillage-level sustainability: ecology,
economy, worldviews
and the social dimension.
Second, we will weave together insights and discoveries
made in each of these areas in an integrated and holistic
design process. Third, we will explore pedagogy, examining
different approaches to the delivery of the Ecovillage Design
Curriculum, developed by 23 leading edge sustainability
educators. While the course will be facilitated by a highly
experienced team of ecovillage educators, it will be highly
collaborative in nature, with all participants seen as rich
resources for the learning community.
The ecovillage model presents itself as
an inspiring and viable solution to eradication of poverty
and degradation of the environment, while combining a supportive
social-cultural environment with a low-impact lifestyle.

Ecovillage Training
14th Feb to 14th March 2009
Ecovillage Training teaches concepts,
tools and techniques for creating sustainable human settlements.
It lasts for a month and may be attended as a whole, or
for one or more of its theme-based weeks.
Ecovillage Training provides a practical forum for learning,
and for developing action plans. It draws on the experience
and expertise developed within the Findhorn Ecovillage over
the past 46 years, as well as on other local and international
initiatives.
Findhorn Ecovillage has the lowest ecological footprint
for any community in the industrialised world, just half
the UK national average.
